Argentina is the eighth-largest country in the world. While it’s famous for its fine wines, fútbol, and tango, over the last two decades it has also emerged as the premier reverse-season hunting destination—because while it’s winter in the U.S., summer is just beginning in the Southern Hemisphere. Direct overnight flights make Buenos Aires easy to reach, and visitors consistently praise the warmth, hospitality, and strong cultural pride of the Argentine people.
Red deer were introduced to Argentina more than a century ago and have since flourished in several regions. Today, northwestern Patagonia and the Andean foothills offer some of the best free-range red stag hunting in the world. But Argentina offers much more: free-range Axis Deer in the Iberá Marshlands, Blackbuck Antelope and Water Buffalo across open pampas, plus Fallow Deer and Wild Boar—all in their natural habitats. Few countries can match this diversity of species, landscapes, and opportunities.
From the Andes of Mendoza and Neuquén to the vast wetlands of Corrientes and the plains near Buenos Aires, each of our lodges delivers a distinctive hunting experience, supported by world-class hospitality. In many cases, hunters can even combine their trip with wingshooting or golden dorado fishing—making Argentina unique for sportsmen who want it all.
But not all stag hunts are created equal. The quality of your experience depends on the lodge you choose—and that’s where we set ourselves apart, as owners and operators of Argentina’s finest hunting lodges.
Red Stag Patagonia is brought to you by the same team behind David Denies Bird Hunting, in partnership with Sebastián F. Casado. For over 30 years, David Denies has earned its reputation as the leading wingshooting operator in South America. Red Stag Patagonia carries forward that legacy—with the same commitment to authenticity, professionalism, and service.
The Argentine hunting season runs from March 1st through mid-June, with the peak of the red stag rut—when roaring stags are most active—occurring in March and April. For Axis Deer, Blackbuck Antelope, and other species, the season extends all the way to mid-December, making it one of the longest and most versatile big game windows in South America.
